I think you asked about this awhile back GM.I looked for you, but I don't have it.Most of the stuff I have is Altec technical notes, engineering notes,publications,etc... Not much in the way of Magazine articles !

If I had I would send you the whole magazine ! I would be happy with just a scaned copy, just for reference.:2thumbsup:

Re: OT: Logging-In Issues at Altec User Board

OK, don't recall, thanks! Wonder if Todd has it?

Anyway, I have it, but at least mine was printed with green ink in a two tone on a relatively thick, lightly textured and tinted manila stock (I think), but the critical chart is so light that it was hard to read when new and now after decades of self rubbing, etc. in a binder it's so far gone I can't get a decent copy on my cheap scanner.

To me, this is a must have Altec museum piece of literature since AFAIK it was a bleeding edge room acoustics voicing routine at the time (at least compared to RCA's audio system design/construction specs manual) and wasn't distributed to the masses AFAIK until it was incorporated in Don and Carolyn's SOUND SYSTEM ENGINEERING book, but unless there's a photo/computer software system that can restore it without having a too dark background............

I always keep my real important stuff in those plastic sleeves that will prevent rubbing of the ink.I think you can find them in most Dollar stores.

I'll see if I can locate a copy for ya.

Talk to Michael he is the "Man with the Scan" ! :2thumbsup:

I have a nice scanner and the latest version of Photoshop. If some of you out there haven't ever used it, Photoshop can work "miracles" enhancing/restoring old/faded/worn documents, photos, etc. It has many settings that in a nutshell lighten or darken images, adjust contrast, etc. and can take a faded, barely legible document (where the text isn't much darker than the darkened background) and make it appear very presentable/legible. PANO may have this or similar (or better?) image enhancement software but if not I'm willing to help with any "problem" documents that need to be scanned/enhanced/restored......

Is this it GM ? There are 3 editions Don & Carolyn's is the second edition. They are on Amazon for about $44- $50 for a decent copy.

Yes, Photoshop is the software of choice for enhancing images.

I'll start a new thread on this whole library and scanning thing.

Yeah, well, at the time I got the first book with it along with lots more info than all the tech notes combined, the pub became moot and frankly was surprised to find I still had it decades later when I went searching for something else Altec related that I knew I still had and almost threw it away then as there was no good reason at the time to keep it.

Yes, I have the first and second edition. Wasn't aware that he's since done one with GT's Dr. Patronis. Guess I need to start saving my pennies again.
